We are pleased to offer 3 pre-conference field trips on Monday 9 April 2018. Each tour shows the current and future technological developments in the sectors: (1) Health and Community, (2) Agriculture, (3) energy and science. Departure from the Adelaide Convention Centre (GeoSmart Asia 2018 / Locate18 Registration desk) 1:45 pm. Return to the Adelaide Convention Centre at 5:00 pm.
The Magill Estate is only 20 minutes from the Adelaide CBD and home of Penfolds. This is your chance to have a guided tour and be part of discovering the history of one of Australia’s oldest, and most iconic wineries. Walk through the original working winery, explore the vineyards and uncover why the merging of science, art and innovation has driven Penfolds to become one of Australia’s most famed and respected winemakers. After the tour join Mr David Gerner, Innovation and Technology Manager of Treasury Wine Estates, to hear how they are changing the way GIS is used in viticulture, while tasting some of Penfolds wines and sampling South Australian produce.

The South Australian Health Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI) is located in Adelaide’s recently developed Biomedical Precinct build on the former railway yards. You will have a chance to view this unique state of the art facility, and gain a deeper understanding of the medical research and use of data that is playing a vital role in improving the health and wellbeing outcomes of our community. Join Mr Chris Radbone, Associate Director of SA NT DataLink to gain insight into one of South Australia’s most unique buildings, and the vital role that linked and privacy protected data plays in the lives of South Australian and the Northern Territory residents.

Join leading State Government representatives and Flinders University Staff and see how the they are making a home for energy innovation and IoT research.
