Malaysian Geospatial Master Plan: Be in the Know!

OVERVIEW

A study has been carried out under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (NRE) through the Malaysian Centre for Geospatial Data Infrastructure (MaCGDI), in preparing a Master Plan for National Geospatial, especially in establishing:

  • Draft National Geospatial Policy
  • Proposed Organisation Structure for National Geospatial Governance
  • Proposed National Geospatial Enterprise Architecture Framework
  • Strategic Plan for the National Geospatial agenda for the next 10 years, and
  • Draft Legislation National Geospatial

The objectives of this project are:

  • Strengthening governance through the fortification of national geospatial efforts with effective implementation, coordination and enforcement;
  • Setting a strategic direction for the development of infrastructure / mechanisms for sharing, usage, legislation and enforcement of national geospatial information in an efficient and effective manner for achieving sustainable development through natural growth based on the geospatial information and improving competitiveness and economic growth in the process; and
  • Empowering the National Geospatial Data Infrastructure programme which is also known as "MyGDI" (Malaysia Geospatial Data Infrastructure) by managing geospatial information more clearly and comprehensively, and moving towards the creation of a spatially-enabled government.
