Innovation plays a pivotal role in economic development, especially in addressing urgent developmental challenges such as providing access to drinking water, increasing energy and environmental security, and reducing poverty. Many developing countries have recognised that innovation is not just about high-technology products, rather it is a capacity that has to be built early in the development process in order to foster national growth. Collaboration between public and private sectors could be one of the effective mechanisms towards this goal. Plenary session on Innovation in National Development Projects shall touch upon digital innovation in various mega projects in the region, from policy, technology and application point of views.
