In September 2015, the United Nations adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.
National Geospatial Agencies play a central role in achieving these goals, being the primary agencies responsible for delivering authentic, accurate and updated spatial data and information to various line of ministries; which not only helps them plan their projects and programs, but also keep a close eye for reviewing and assessing their progress.
However, it is increasingly realized that such goals cannot be achieved by governments alone, no matter how efficiently they function. They need to have strong collaborations with the private sector to create a strong National Geospatial Platform that delivers services to citizens. Such collaborations allow private sectors to help governments to mobilize and share knowledge, expertise, technology and financial resources.
Plenary session on PPP Driving National Geospatial Platform for SDGs shall discussed the importance of public-private sector engagements in geospatial domain as a foundation to achieving SDGs and in creating a better planet to future generations.
