TECHNOLOGY TRACK BY ESRI

A GIS Hub Vision

Governments are responsible for supporting safe, healthy, livable, sustainable, prosperous, and well-run communities. For government leaders, this means managing daily operations, providing effective services, making progress on important policy initiatives, and delivering the results they've promised citizens. To achieve such policy objectives, governments need to effectively connect people with technology, and tap into collective knowledge and expertise—both within government and across the broader community.

In order for technology and data to be useful to everyone in the community, it must be presented in simple and intuitive ways. Esri's Hub framework, allows users to visualize and interact with data through location—the most common point of connection between government datasets. Location extends across urban and rural planning, land management, economic planning, transportation, emergency management and many other essential government functions. When you use location to organize your data, you can connect and combine data from multiple systems, enabling a much greater sense of operational awareness.

In this session, we will talk about using Hub as a framework to empower the existing data in your city, looking at how other cities across the world have adopted Hub as a means to increasing understanding, enhancing communication and collaboration, improving data sharing and transparency, and ultimately, improve the quality of life for every citizen.
