GeoCapacity
Download Concept Note Here

Like any other fast-changing technology, geospatial technology is also tremendously evolving and advancing. What is efficient today might not be the same case tomorrow. By its very nature, technology changes at a fast pace and it is an on-going challenge. The integration of geospatial technology with other mainstream technologies like information technology is contributing to harnessing true potential of the technology. Governments and industries have to change their business processes as fast as technology-and education has no exception. In the Asia Pacific region, most governments have made the applications of geospatial technologies mandatory in several areas which has given a boost to the development of GI-sector and generated huge demand of highly skilled GI-professionals. The situation raises good hopes but also concerns for its sustainable growth and brings up several questions focussed on the capacity building processes. GeoCapacity will bring together the geospatial academia, industry and organisations to a common exchange platform for discussing the lessons learnt, sharing the best practices and debating for framing the future course of action. The forum involves the participation of students and professors from various educational institutions, prominent professionals from government and private organisations as well as the executives from leading GI industry.
